The Uganda Hippos will this evening be aiming for the ultimate prize when they face off with hosts Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Uganda cruised through the group stages unscathed with three resounding victories before fighting from two goals down against Congo to win 4-2 in the semi finals.
On the other hand, Ghana reached this stage after getting the better of Senegal thanks to a Michael Ephson strike.
Uganda head coach Morley Byekwaso will be hoping to avenge the defeat inflicted on him by the Ghana when he lost against them in the AFCON U-20 in Mauritania.
It’s not only his only own affair with Ghana but also with Uganda as a nation after also losing against them in the 1978 finals.
” We have the dream, the will and imagination to do it. We have achieved and this is our opportunity to make history.”
“We’ve gone through a lot, we lost against them in 1978, in the 2021 finals in Mauritania and here were are to make amends against them”.
His opposite number is aware of the team before hand and was full praise his opponents.
“We have to respect the opponent and Uganda is a good footballing side of incredible talents especially in the attacking phase. We are not going to change anything. We know their strengths and their weaknesses”.
Zambian referee Hilary Hambala has been appointed to charge of the duel. He will be assisted by Adbessamad Abertoune of Morocco and Racnovat Bizumuremyi of Burundi with Abdulrazaq Ahmed of Libya as the 4th official.
