Uganda’s long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo retained his senior men’s title at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Belgrade on Saturday.
The Ugandan reclaimed his crown in a time of 28:09 in Belgrade.
Ethiopian Berihu Aregawi came second on a second consecutive time in 28:12 while Kenya’s 2021 world U20 5000m champion Kiplangat finished third.
2019 Word Cross champion and last year’s bronze medalist Joshua Cheptegei finished sixth (28:24), but he earned silver in the team contest.
Kiplimo’s triumph sees him join Kenenisa Bekele, Geoffrey Kamworor and Paul Tergat as the other athletes to have smiled to back-to-back World Cross Championship in the Men’s senior category.
Kenya won gold in the team’s standings, fellowed by Uganda while Ethiopia gained bronze.
