Kitara FC will face off with Vipers SC in their epic Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal contest at Masindi Municipal Stadium on Sunday.
Both sides will be seeking to join BUL FC, Pajule Lions and NEC FC into the semis.
Kitara head coach Brian Ssenyondo is optimistic ahead of the contest
“Vipers are the defending champions and it is a tough contest but If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. They will want to defend their trophy but we are well prepared despite the injuries.”
Vipers SC head coach Richard Wasswa anticipates a tough game
“The crowd does nothing on us because my players are used to such and they can play under such pressure & conditions. We have players that have played bigger tournaments such and on international level. Concentration should only be on the pitch and my players are highly motivated for the game. It is a tough contest since we are anticipating that both teams are going all attack minded looking for goals. The only option to stay in the competition is by winning your match. The game against Kitara is like a final, there’s no any other chance, the moment you don’t capitalize on them, you are out. Said Wasswa
Kitara will be without four key players for this fixture who are Goalkeeper Crispus Kusiima, Brian Aheebwa, Arthur Kiggundu and George Ssenkaaba.
The Venoms will welcome back right back Ashiraf Mandela who missed their previous game against SC Villa.
The Venoms have won their previous three meetings against Kitara including their 2-1 win in the league this term.
