Vipers see off Busoga to keep title defense alive

Defending champions Vipers SC kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over relegation fighting Busoga United on Tuesday at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.

Skipper Milton Karisa and youngster Abdul Nsereko scored the two goals for the Venom

Basham Mugwa has restored hope for the hosts with a second half leveller thanks to Emmanuel Ajo’s assist.

Karisa opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after being fed by Allan Okello.

Basham restored parity for the home side in the 66th minute for his eighth goal of the season.

Moments later, Nsereko who replaced Eric Kambale netted his first league goal to restore the six time Uganda Premier league champions’ lead.

Victory sees Vipers move to third place and a point behind leaders SC Villa who overcame URA FC 2-1 in their game at Wankulukuku.

On the final day, Vipers next host Mbarara City who dented BUL FC’s title hopes.

Busoga will be targeting a point against BUL in the final game at Njeru to overcome relegation.
