The first edition of the Speaker Luba Inter-parish football tournament officially kicked off on Saturday, 25th May at Yes centre playground in Nsambya.
The tournament is organised and funded by Makindye Division Speaker Luba Charles.
“The main objective of this tournament is to nurture and unify talented players in Makindye. We have different political ideas but above all we want to develop talents in our community since we can leave different and move together at a given common cause.”
Said Luba before adding,
“Once you invest in football, it means you have tapped to the youths and I believe various agents from topflight division will target players from this tournament.”
“We also believe that through such tournaments, Makindye Division can have its own football club in the Uganda Premier league and that’s what we are also aiming for in the years to come.” Added Luba
The tournament will comprise of 20 teams and will run until October this year.
All the 20 participating teams will receive a set of jersey courtesy of Speaker Luba Charles.
The overall winner of the competition will walk away with Bull and Shs1M while the runners up and third placed teams will also be rewarded.
