The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Awards have rewarded the four athletes at the ceremony that was held at Lazio Restaurant in Lugogo.

Elio Capradossi (Football), Joshua Nyanzi (Boxing), Brian Masaba (Cricket) and Modesta Anyango (Basketball) were the respective winners.

Former Ssingo Ssaza county chief Godfrey Mbalire was also rewarded with the Lifetime award for his tremendous work towards the revival of the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup.

Mbalire is a former Masaza Cup Organizing Committee chairman.

Brian Masaba was named as the best in Cricket after captaining the Cricket Cranes to their debut T20 World Cup.

Masaba’s performances included a wicket against Afghanistan and also added four more in the other matches.

Masaba was named best Cricket Player of the month

The former Cricket Cranes captain beat youngsters Juma Miyaga and Cosmas Kyewuta to the gong.

In boxing, Joshua Nyanzi clinched the accolade for after unanimously winning the national Welterweight title in the fight against Mubarak Seguya at Club Obligato in Kampala.

Nyanzi overcame other nominees Isaac Zebra Ssenyange Junior and Salimat Tibesigwa.

Modeata Anyango was named the best of basketball player for her performances during the Junior Gazelles (Uganda Girls U18 National Basketball team) triumph at the FIBA U18 Zone Five championship at Lugogo.

She was named as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament beat Silverbacks (Boys) Joel Rugette and Gideon Ekukwai who also impressed in the Boys U18 team’s performances.

Italian-based defender Elio Capradossi won the football player of the month accolade after impressing during his Uganda Cranes debut in the World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.

Ronald Kaye and Paul Lule were the other football nominees.

The monthly awards are sponsored by Fortebet and Jude Color solutions with the winners rewarded with cash and plaques.
