New league entrants Mbale Heroes have completed the signing of goalkeeper Delton Oyo, Swift Sports understands.

Oyo has signed a one year contract with Mbale Heroes to complete his move from league champions SC Villa.

The youthful goalkeeper found it hard to break into the SC Villa regular selection due to a stiff competition in the club’s goalkeeping department.

Jeans Brady Wokorach emerged as the SC Villa first choice keeper while Norman Angufindru and the experienced Meddie Kibirige proved to be his immediate backups.

In signing Oyo, Mbale Heroes will be hoping to bolster their goalkeeping department that largely relied on the experienced duo of Didi Kasule and Mujapwani Paul last season.

Oyo rose through the ranks with Jinja SS and Busoga United Junior Team but notably made his mark with the U17 national team, The Cubs

He won the U17 Juniors League with BUL FC Junior Team in 2019 as well as the U17 CECAFA tournament with the Cubs in 2018.

He was also part of the Uganda Hippos squad that won silver at the U20 AFCON tournament held in Mauritania in 2021.

Mbale Heroes have already signed Sula Mpanga, Sulaiman Ssesaazi, David Tonny Kiberu and Umar Kyebatala as earlier reported by this website.
