•Vipers Vs NEC – 8PM
Vipers SC will be seeking for first leg advantage when they host NEC FC in the quarterfinal stage of the FUFA Super 8 on Friday night at Kitende.
The Venoms come into this contest after a 2-0 win in their friendly game against Kenya’s Police FC.
NEC FC on the other hand lost 4-1 to Rwanda’s Police FC in a friendly game at Lugogo.
Under the stewardship of Serbian tactician Nikola Kavazovic, the six time Uganda Premier league champions Vipers are seeking for their second FUFA Super 8 trophy.
They last won the competition in 2019 with a 2-0 victory over KCCA FC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku with Fahad Aziz Bayo scoring both goals.
This will also be Kavazovic’s first competitive game as Vipers head coach, he replaced Charles Livingstone Mbabazi in the host seat.
During their league meetings last season, Vipers SC beat NEC 4-1 at Kitende before a goalless draw in Lugogo.
The goalless stalemate away to NEC last season, dented Vipers’ hopes for a third consecutive league title.
Hussein Mbalangu with his immediate assistant James Odoch have boosted their squad with the acquisition of Isma Kawawulo, Patrick Bayiga, Jacob Okao, Dickson Niwamanya, Hannington Ssebwalunyo and Muzamir Mutyaba.
After the first leg, the two sides will then meet in the return due on Wednesday at Lugogo.
The team that will prevail in the contest between Vipers/NEC FC will face SC Villa or Select team in the semifinal.
Before Vipers and NEC FC game at Kitende, BUL FC will begin their trophy defense against Maroons FC at the same Venue.
BUL FC beat URA FC to clinch the FUFA Super 8 trophy last year.
Maroons FC come into this game after losing almost most of their key players for last season in Okao, Bayiga, David Ndihabwe, Fred Amaku, Abraham Tusubira Kakensa among others.
They have however bolstered the squad with the acquisition of Ivan Asaba, Apollo Kagogwe Ibrahim Juma Dada, Rogers Kiwanuka, Hassan Matovu, Ivan Mayanja and Muwadda Mawejje.
The winners between BUL/Maroons will battle the winner in the contest between KCCA FC and Kitara FC.
