Reigning 3000m Steeplechase Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai has progressed to the Women’s final at the ongoing Paris games.
The Ugandan middle long-distance runner won Heat One in a time of 9:10.51 on Sunday morning at the Stade de France.
Chemutai will be aiming to defend her Olympic title in the Final slated for Tuesday, 6th August.
In Tokyo three years ago, Chemutai became the first Ugandan woman to clinch gold at the Olympic games.
The Ugandan runner is in shape again as she went to Paris with the fastest time in the world over the 3000m Steeplechase this year in a time of 8:55.09 minutes.
The defending gold medallist also qualified for Tuesday’s final with the top time of 9:10.51 in the qualifiers.
