FUFA has confirmed the appointment of Matia Lule as the Uganda Hippos (U20) coach ahead of the AFCON Zonal Qualifiers to be held in Tanzania next month.
Lule who previously coached the Cubs (U17) in 2014 and the Hippos in 2018, replaces Morley Byekwaso who is currently the SC Villa head coach.
Lule was serving as an assistant coach at Tanzania Premier League side Ihefu SC alongside Fred Kajoba (RIP) until the end of the previous season.
He has previously coached KCCA FC, Express FC, Proline FC, Entebbe FC as well as Tanzanian sides Stand FC, Mbeya City and Singida Big Stars among others.
Lule was also the assistant coach for the Uganda Cranes during the era of Sebastien Desabre.
He will be deputized by Simeon Massa as his immediate assistant while Steven Billy Kiggundu and Noah Kasule Babadi will be the goalkeeping and fitness coaches respectively.
The Uganda Hippos provisional squad has been announced and will enter camp on Monday 16th September.

Uganda is pitted in Group B alongside South Sudan, Burundi and Ethiopia.
Group A has hosts Tanzania alongside Sudan, Rwanda, Djibouti and Kenya.
The best two teams in the tournament will automatically qualify for the AFCON U20 tournament to be held next year.
