Kenya head coach Engin Firat has revealed why their encounter in group J of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Cameroon will be played behind closed doors on 14th October at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
Kenya host their home games at Uganda’s national stadium since their stadiums don’t met CAF and FIFA standards for international matches.
“There are a lot of security reasons you saw what happened with Onana, secondly you saw the support they (Cameroon) got in Uganda and doesn’t make any sense to help them (Zimbabwe).” Said Firat during a press briefing on Monday
Kenya hosted their opening game of the campaign against Zimbabwe at Namboole.
It was established earlier this month that Manchester United fans in Uganda will not have another chance of watching goalkeeper Andre Onana at Namboole again.
Last month when Zimbabwe hosted Cameroon at the same venue, thousands of Manchester United faithfuls in Uganda watched the game in support of Onana.
