Onana’s Cameroon beat Kenya in Namboole to seal 2025 AFCON Qualification

Five time African champions Cameroon became the third country to secure a place in the 2025 AFCON Final tournament due in Morocco.

Andre Onana’s Cameroon beat Kenya 1-0 during a group J on the 2025 AFCON qualifier contest at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on Monday.

Second half substitute Boris Enow Takang scored the all important goal for the Indomitable Lions.

Boris struck from the free kick in the 62nd minute during the game that was played behind closed doors of Namboole.

Before Cameroon’s goal, Kenya had a decent chance to strike first but Alphonce Otieno Omija’s strike hit the goal post.

Cameroon held on to complete a double over the East African side following their 4-1 home win in the first leg meeting in Yaounde last week.

The victory takes Cameroon to 10 points with Zimbabwe who beat Namibia 3-1 in the other group J game second on eight points while Kenya are third on four points.

Cameroon join hosts Morocco and Burkina Faso who are the other two nations to qualify for the final tournament.

Kenya will next face off with Nambia who are pointless while Cameroon will host Zimbabwe next month.
