NEC rallied from a goal down to defeat Maroons FC 2-1 as they bounced back to winning ways at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.
Defender Jacob Okao gave Maroons FC an early when he scored in his own net in 50th minute.
Seven minutes later, Paul Mucurezi equalised for Hussein Mbalangu’s coached side from the spot.
NEC FC’s winning goal was scored by super substitute Muzamiru Mutyaba in the 73rd minute, Mutyaba had earlier on replaced James Jarieko.
Mbalangu believes squad depth is one of the reasons his team is getting the desired results,
“There is no small team in the league, we badly needed this victory so that we can go back to winning ways we need to be very consistent.”
“This season depth in our squad reason that when some players are missed out for various reasons we usually have back up options.”
NEC FC go top of the table with 12 points from five games, they host Wakiso Giants next on Wednesday 23rd October at Lugogo.
Maroons FC have five points from five games they next host SC Villa next on Saturday 26th-October at Luzira
