Sam Ssemugugu scored the all important goal that grabbed a 1-0 win for Lugazi FC against NEC FC at the Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe.

The victory marked the start of Steven Bogere’s era following his appointment as the new Lugazi head coach last week.

Just like it was against Express FC, Freedom Mungudit combined with Ssemugugu to inspire the Najjembe based side to another huge victory.

Mungudit won possession from NEC captain Ibrahim Kiyemba at the center line to set up Ssemugugu who majestically went all the way to beat Hannington Ssebwalunyo in the NEC goal in the 78th minute.

After breaking the deadlock, Lugazi jealously guarded their priceless lead with goalkeeper Fahad Emuran playing a starring role.

NEC had attempts through Dickson Niwamanya whose header missed target and Allan Mugalu whose header was cleared away following Gaddafi Wahab’s delivery.

The victory sends Lugazi to the eighth place with eight points from the seven games played.

NEC miss out on an opportunity to go back to the table summit and remain second on the table with 15 points, one behind leaders Vipers SC.

Hussein Mbalangu’s men will face Police FC in their next game on Tuesday November 5th at Lugogo while Lugazi will visit Wakiso Giants a day later.
