NEC FC and Police FC shared spoils in a goalless stalemate on Tuesday at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Following a directive from the Uganda Premier league secretariat, there was a minute of silence in memory of the late national assistant referee Peter Kabugo who died on Friday last week after collapsing in SC Villa’s 5-0 victory over UPDF FC.

Both sides had several scoring opportunities but the best chances fell to the home team.

Gideon Odong thought he had given Hussein Mbalangu’s side the lead in the 23rd minute when he headed home a Muzamir Mutyaba free kick but referee Ali Sabilla called for an infringement on a Police FC defender.

The replays on TV, however showed there was no contact when Odong headed the ball in the net.

The Cops also had decent chances to score but couldn’t capitalize on them.

Mutyaba nearly won the game for NEC FC but his effort kissed the crossbar.

The two sides settled for a barren stalemate which leaves NEC FC third on the table with 16 points they have garnered this term.

Police FC on the other hand are 7th on the log with 11 points after their fifth draw.
