Express FC edged their arch-rivals SC Villa 1-0 in the league played under the floodlights of Nakivubo on Friday.
The Red Eagles had lost their previous four games against the record champions.
Defender Joseph Zziwa netted a late winner to earn Badru Kaddu’s coached side maximum points.
SC Villa who came into the contest after a 5-0 thrashing of UPDF FC couldn’t prevail despite having a decent first period.
Morley Byekwaso coached side remain winless on the road this term in the four games they have played away from home, losing to Mbale Heroes, Vipers SC a draw at Maroons FC and now defeat over their rivals.
In the 23rd minute, SC Villa were forced into a change when goalkeeper Norman Angufindru sustained an injury and was replaced by Jeans Braddy Wokorach.
Reagan Mpande had the best chance in the first period when he was fed by Patrick Jonah Kakande but failed to fire past the Express FC goalkeeper.
Express FC were the dominant side in the second period and their pressure paid off in the 79th minute when Zziwa capitalized on Ronald Ssekiganda’s poor clearance to fire past Wokorach.
The Red Eagles held on to maximum points and are now fourth on the table with 12 points while SC Villa drop to seventh after a third away defeat.
