Mansoor Bwanika and Marion Kisakye won the prestigious 2024 National Open Pool titles following their triumphs on Saturday.
Bwanika and Kisakye each smiled to a brand-new car during Saturday’s grand finale at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
This year’s National Open Pool Tournament attracted over 160 players.
Bwanika got the better of Ibra Ssejjemba 7-6 in the men’s final. Ssejjemba nearly levelled the score before running out of time.
To clinch the men’s title, Bwanika beat Habie Ssebuguzi, Bashir Kanakulya, Abdul Nambugu, Walter Odoki, Azali Lukomwa, and Joseph Kasozi before facing Ssejjemba in the final.
This is Bwanika’s second National Open title, following his victory in 2018.
He also joins Jonah Turigye and Fahad Ssewankambo who are the other players to have won two titles.
Marion Kisakye alias Anka Sheila won the women’s title with a 4-2 win over Faith Amina.
To reach the final, Kisakye beat Faith Atai, Peace Namubiru, Angela Busingye, and Julie Namuhanga.
