Lugazi rally back to hold SC Villa

Lugazi FC registered a priceless point against SC Villa in the 1-1 draw at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Friday.

Steven Bogere coached side rallied back after conceding early into the game to register a point at the home of the champions.

Charles Lwanga had given SC Villa the lead in the 14 minute for his eighth goal of the season.

Lugazi came close to levelling matters in the 26th minute through Emmanuel Obua but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige who made his first start of the season.

In the second period, the visitors finally restored parity through Abdul Kalanzi in the 55th minute.

SC Villa didn’t threaten in the second period and a draw was the deserving result for both sides at Wankulukuku.

Lugazi remain unbeaten since Sadiq Sempigi’s departure. They are now on a five match unbeaten run since Bogere and Oliver Mbekeka took over helms.

Following the stalemate, SC Villa remain eighth in the table with 15 points while Lugazi are 11th on 12 points.
