The inaugural Aviators run under the Theme” Mindset Change Youth Camps on HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention” was held on Sunday, 8th December at UMA Grounds in Lugogo.
According to Menya Emmanuel a Pilot and flight operations officer and Director of Aviators Run initiative Uganda has revealed that the run was a success and sets sight on 2025.
“I take this opportunity to thanks all the companies that enabled us stage this event at a very short period of time. This was our first edition and we will be aiming higher in the coming year. This event will be held every year as we aim towards helping those in need.” The proceeds from this run will go out to the expectant mothers living with HIV/AIDS.” Said Menya
Dr.Sarah Alinga represented, The AIDS Support Organization (Taso) at the run hailed the Aviators for run.
“I thank the Aviators for participating in the fight against HIV in the country. As Taso we are happy that we have been part of this run. We have been in this fight against HIV for 37 years and the struggle continues because we want to get to the point where we have a world without HIV.” Said Alinga
Ampire Cosmus, Obema Erick, Tayebwa Dickson were some of the winners in the run and will have a chance for scenic flights across the city for their triumphs.
