Kitara FC and Uganda Cranes forward Denis Omedi missed out on the CAF goal of the year Award to Angola’s Cristovao Mabululu.
The accolade was decided by 70% of the fans vote while 30% was for the CAF experts.
Mabululu’s goal against Namibia in the 2023 AFCON won the award with 121,192 votes followed by Al Ahly ‘s Wassam Abou Ali goal against TP Mazembe.
Yassine Benzi goal for Algeria against South Africa in FIFA Series 2024 was third while Said Benrahma’s goal Vs Togo in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers was fourth.
Sebastien Haller’s winner in the Afcon 2023 final against Nigeria was also ahead of Omedi’s rabona goal against KCCA FC in the FUFA Super 8.
Omedi’s goal was voted 13,766 times finishing 6th in the rankings.
The Ugandan will hope that his goal wins the FIFA Puskas award.
In the Goal of the Year category, Angolan Cristovao Mabululu won beating Ugandan international Denis Omedi amongst other contestants to the crown purely decided by fans votes.
