Uganda Cubs came from a goal down to beat Tanzania 2-1 in the 2025 AFCON U-17 Qualifiers (CECAFA Zone) final played at Hamz Stadium on Friday.
Abel Josiah Samson had given Tanzania an early lead but the Cubs under the stewardship of Brian Ssenyondo recovered courtesy of Arafat Nkoola and James Bogere second half goals to clinch the title.
Josiah gave Tanzania the lead in the 11th minute and came close to doubling their advantage two minutes later but his effort kissed the bar.
In the 63rd minute, Nkoola restored parity for Uganda with a sensational strike.
Three minutes to regulation time, Bogere completed the comeback win with his 7th goal of the campaign to send Nakivubo into delight.
Both Uganda and Tanzania qualified for AFCON U17 tournament that will be staged in Morocco in 2025.
Meanwhile, Somalia finished third placed following the 4-2 penalty shootout win over South Sudan after a two all draw in normal time.
Bogere finished as the tournament’s top scorer with seven goals while Abubakali Walusimbi was named as the MVP.
Tanzania goalkeeper Abrahman Nassoro was named as the best goalkeeper.
