Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has urged all leaders in the Buganda Kingdom to advise parents to render all the possible support to their sports loving children.
This was in his message at the Buganda Sports Awards 2024 where different personalities were appreciated for their outstanding performance 2024,
“Sports brings us together and happiness and I believe we all need that moment to be happy, leave alone that there is a lot of money in Sports. Last year I saw people enjoying ekigwo and mweso and it was so interesting.”
“All of you here, I task you to advise parents out there not to hinder their kids from taking part in Sports. Who knows they will be among the most out standing Sports personalities years to come.”
He also appreciated Owek.Robert Serwanga for the efforts invested in games that had been not given much attention,
“Owek.Serwanga deserves credit, he has done a lot to revive games like Kigwo and Mweeso, of course he does it with your help and support thank you all.”

.Best female cyclist – Kevin Nakato-she won two out of the three races
.Best male cyclist- Aziz Ssempijja- won all the three races he participated in.

.Youngest Kigwo player-17 years old Jamil Kizito
.Journalist choice football- Pius Sebuulime- Buddu
.Journalist choice netball- Rachel Nanyonga- Nnyonnyi Nnyange

.Ggombolola Cup outstanding Committee award-Mutuba I Mazinga ( Ssese)

.Schools with highest number of teams- Wampewo Ntake Secondary School and St Julian each brought 7 teams
