Emmanuel Mugume scored a late equalizer for Police FC in their 1-1 draw with NEC FC at Kavumba on Sunday.

Cromwell Rwothomio had given NEC FC the lead before Mugume restored parity in the final minutes of the contest.

Police FC goalkeeper Edward Kasibante saved Paul Mucureezi’s penalty in the 21st minute after Farouk Katongole had handled the ball in the forbidden area.

Gabriel Eragu had a golden opportunity to fire the Cops into the lead but failed to hit the target in the 36th minute.

At the stroke of halftime, Cromwell broke the deadlock when he headed home a quality Mucureezi cross.

New signing Alpha Thierry Ssali was handed his NEC debut in the second period when he replaced Ibrahim Kasinde.

Police found the leveller in the first minute of added time when Mugume tapped home from a rebound after goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo had initially saved January signing Umar Kasumba’s header.

NEC FC stay second on the Uganda Premier league with 37 points and three adrift of leaders Vipers SC while Police FC are 12th on 19th points.
