After struggling for form in the opening two matches of the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF U-20 AFCON in Egypt, Uganda’s highly rated youngster Travis Mutyaba finally found his footing when the Hippos faced South Sudan in the CECAFA derby.

The SC Villa attacking midfielder lost his place to Saidi Mayanja in the second group game but he regained it in the final group game against South Sudan and he managed to redeem himself with a man of the match performance.

Despite the stalemate with Sudan, Uganda finished as winners of group B and were rewarded with a date against Nigeria in the quarter finals.

“We wanted to win but unfortunately we found it very difficult to get a win though we got a point”
