Vipers SC will at least have to spend over Shs200m to repatriate the lifeless body of their forward Abubaker Lawal to his home country Nigeria.

The six time Uganda Premier league champions have also confirmed that Lawal’s body will be repatriated to Sokoto, Nigeria on Sunday 2nd March, 2025.

Vipers SC President Dr.Lawrence Mulindwa revealed that the club will cater for all expenses regarding the repatriation of the body of their fallen player.

“Repatriating the body is not easy but I can assure you, Lawal’s body will be back in Nigeria on Sunday. It is an expensive one and it is also a long journey from Lagos to Sokoto. We are going to charter a plane that will take his body from Lagos to his home area Sokoto.” Said Mulindwa

Lawal was pronounced dead on Monday morning with police preliminary reports indicating that he allegedly fell from the balcony of Voice Shopping Mall in Bwebajja where he had gone to meet his Tanzanian friend Omary Naima.

Lawal joined Vipers in July, 2022 from Rwanda’s AS Kigali and won the 2022/23 elusive Cup double with the Venoms.

Besides Vipers SC, Lawal had also previously played in the Nigerian Premier League with Kano Pillars FC, Wikki Tourists FC and FC Nasarawa
