The first lady and Minister for Education and Sports Janet Museveni has given an update on the latest CAF inspection of Namboole Stadium, Kyambogo, FUFA Kadiba and Wankulukuku.
According to Janet Museveni, the CAF inspection team stated that the venues meet the required standards with only minor improvements recommended to stage the rescheduled African Nations Championships (CHAN). The 2024 CHAN tournament will be Co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in August this year.

Stated Janet Museveni who added that the East African Nations are ready to host the CHAN 2024.
“Following CAF’s latest inspection, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania have been confirmed as fully prepared to host the tournament.
“Our infrastructure is in place, and Uganda has secured its $13M contribution to ensure a successful tournament.”
“With the Organizing Committee in place, we are now working closely with CAF to finalize all preparations. Hosting CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2027 is a great step for East African sports, and we are ready to showcase our capability to the continent.” She stated
The rearranged tournament was scheduled for February 1st to 28th of the same month but was postponed to August 2025 to give host Nations Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania enough time to finish the infrastructure and facilities required to host a tournament of such a magnitude.
Senegal are the current holders of the CHAN Tournament.

Group B: Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic
Group C: Uganda, Niger, Guinea, Q2, Q1
Group D: Senegal (Defending champions), Congo, Sudan, Nigeria
