Kenya’s biggest club football fixture postponed again

The Mashemeji derby between AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia which is Kenya’s biggest club fixture has been postponed once again due to uncertainty over the availability of Moi International Stadium.

The two sides were scheduled to lock horns on Sunday, 2nd March in the fixture that was rearranged by FKF.

Originally this fixture was scheduled for November, 23rd last year but was postponed due to the renovations of both Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums.

The two clubs confirmed the postponement on their Socials

“Due to unavailability of match venue, we hereby postponed our match to a later date.We shall communicate the rescheduled date in due course.” Revealed AFC Leopards

“Our derby match against AFC Leopards that was set for this coming Sunday postponed due to lack of venue. A new date will be communicated. Omulepat will not escape the beating, itafika tu.” Gor Mahia also confirmed

AFC Leopards Chairman Daniel Shikanda had proposed that the game to be hosted outside Kenya since Moi International Stadium is under renovations ahead of the rescheduled 2024 African Nations Championships due in August.

Two points separate both sides with Gor Mahia third on the Kenya Premier league table with 36 points while AFC Leopards are 5th with 34 points.
