NEC’s title charge implodes at Wakiso Giants

Second-place NEC FC unexpectedly dropped points away to relegation threatened Wakiso Giants in a goalless stalemate at Kabaka Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Friday to dent its title challenge.

NEC now find themselves five points adrift of leaders Vipers SC who beat Police FC on Thursday.

Goalkeeper James Alitho denied both Muzamir Mutyaba and Allan Mugalu in the first period of the contest.

Benjamin Ochan also saved Rahmat Ssenfuka’s decent effort from the free kick before the halftime breather.

It’s was a game of limited scoring opportunities with both sides settling for a point.

NEC FC remain second placed with 41 points and five adrift of leaders Vipers. Hussein Mbalangu’s side will next face Maroons on Friday, March 14, 2025, while Wakiso Giants will take on Vipers SC the following day.
