Veteran striker Sserunkuma set to join NEC FC in Big League

FUFA Big League side NEC FC are set to complete the signing of former Uganda Cranes striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma.

Sserunkuma is currently playing for Eastern Regional League side MYDA FC after the club was relegated last season.

The veteran striker has also been a transfer target for Uganda Premier League side Onduparaka FC.

Sserunkuma needs no introduction having played on the top level for the past two decades.

He has previously played for KCCA FC, St. George (Ethiopia), Bloemfontein Celtic, Bidvest Wits and Vasco da gama in South Africa and Zambian sides Buildcon and NAPSA Stars.

He also featured for Wakiso Giants, Lweza FC, Nalubaale and Horizon FC among others.

He swooped the Uganda Premier League golden boot in 2017 after scoring 21 goals while playing for KCCA.

NEC FC want to relieve the club’s scoring burden off their skipper Marvin Kavuma who has managed to score seven goals so far.

Derrick Ssekiranda and Julius Walugembe are other forwards the club has been relying on as lead strikers.

NEC current sit second on the table with 27 points, level with leaders Kitara FC who have a superior goal difference.
