Mbalangu handed two-match ban for referee rant

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has suspended NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu for his remarks in his side’s 2-1 win over Kitara FC.

Mbalangu expressed his frustrations towards referee Dick Okello for sending off Enock Ssebaggala in the second of the contest that was held at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on April 10th, 2025.

In the statement from FUFA, the tactician has also been fined Shs1M which is payable with immediate effect

“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel has handed NEC FC Head Coach, Mr. Hussein Mbalangu, a two-match suspended sanction on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for breaching Article 13 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code. This decision follows his comments during the NEC FC vs Kitara FC post match media interview on 10th April 2025.The sanction will be imposed if Mr. Mbalangu repeats the same conduct.”

“He has also been fined UGX 1,000,000 payable with immediate effect.
Mr. Mbalangu has been warned regarding his future conduct.” Read the statement

The Suspension means that Mbalangu will not be on the touchline when NEC host Mbale Heroes on Friday, 25th April and their trip to Mbarara City FC on Wednesday, 30th April.
