Uganda’s long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo impressed on his Marathon debut finishing second in London on Sunday.

The half-marathon world record holder posted two hours and 3:37 minutes to finish behind Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe at the London Marathon.

Sawe won the 42Km race with a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes and 27 seconds with Kiplimo who was making his full marathon debut was the only runner to give a chase to the Kenyan.

Kiplimo’s time of 2 hours 3:37 minutes is a national record as well.

Sawe won the 2024 Valencia Marathon and his triumph in London means he becomes the fourth Kenyan runner in a row to win the men’s race.

Last year’s winner Alexander Mutiso edged Netherlands Abdi Nageeya to finish in third place.

The greatest Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge finished sixth in 2:05:25. This was two time Olympic champion’s first marathon since turning 40 years.

Meanwhile, Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia won the women’s London Marathon with a record time of 2:15:40 to eclipse the previous record set by Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir last year by 26 seconds.

Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya was second in the women’s race with a time of 2:18:43 while Olympic Marathon Champion Sifan Hassan finished third with 2:18:59 while Uganda’s Stella Chesang finished sixth in a time of 2:22:42.
