St Lawrence University will have to wait for another season to have their hands on the Pepsi University Football League title after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Uganda Martyrs in the Final at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Sunday.

It was elation once again for Uganda Martyrs under the stewardship of Eric Kisuze who clinched their third Pepsi UFL Title.

This is UMU’s second title under Kisuze who be guiding reigning Masaza Cup champions Buddu during this year’s tourney.

They also become the most successful team in the competition while Makerere University Business School and Kampala University remain on two titles.

Goals from Calvin Peter Emayu, Crispus Sseruwunge and Giu Obedi secure a third triumph for the Nkozi based University.

For St. Lawrence it was yet horrendous day after suffering a third final defeat in four years.

They hoped for revenge against Uganda Martyrs who beat them in the 2022 final at Lugogo.

Emayu opened the scoring in the 36th minute before Sseruwunge doubled Uganda Martyrs lead three minute to halftime breather.

St Lawrence could not mount a recovery and Giu wrapped up the win in the 56th minute to romp to a third University Football League title.

There was no recovery for Davis Nnono coached side whose search for Pepsi UFL glory continues.

UMU had that extra touch of fantasy that now places them above the rest as they claimed their third triumph in the tournament after previous wins in 2017 and 2022. Meanwhile, Bugema University edged IUIU 1-0 in the third place playoff.
