Kampala Queens 2-3 St. Noa Girls
Striker Sylvia Kabene scored a stunning hat trick as St. Noa Girls shockingly eliminated Kampala Queens in the FUFA Women’s Cup quarter final at Lugogo.
Shamirah Nalugya and Zainah Nandede scored for the Women Super League champions but their first half goals only turned into mere consolations.
St. Noa came into the encounter three days after being crowned as the champions of the Women Elite League (2nd tier), after securing promotion to the top-tier.
Kabene drew first blood in the 23rd minute after Patience Nabulobi failed to clear the ball following Barbra Anomo’s long free kick.
Their lead shortlived for just a minute as Kampala Queens equalized through Nalugya’s penalty following Mayimuna Namuwaya’s handball in the goal mouth.
Nandede gave Kampala Queens the lead with a neat finish from Nalugya’s well laid assist in the 44th minute to ensure a halftime lead.
After a teasing start to the second half, Kabene equalized for St. Noa after being set up by Brenda Nassaka in the 58th minute.
Three minutes later, Kabene later completed her hat trick with another clinical finish after Shakira Nankwanga failed to make a good clearance following another teasing long free kick.
Victory sends St. Noa to the semi finals where they will face She Corporate in a two legged affair.
Uganda Martyrs and Amus College will also battle in the second semi final scheduled for early next month.
