Nalugya named MVP as Kampala Queens are crowned as Women Super League Champions

Kampala Queens have officially been crowned as the champions of the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season.

The crowning ceremony followed a 1-1 draw with She Maroons as the delayed final game of the season at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Shamirah Nalugya scored for Kampala Queens in the 28th minute from the penalty spot after Shakira Nagudi brought down Catherine Nagadya in the box.

Substitute Faith Lucy Atono equalized for She Maroons with an exquisite strike from outside the box in the 72nd minute.

Kampala Queens, under coach Firew Asefa Hailegebral finished on 49 points from 22 games played, four more than second placed Kawempe Muslim.

Nalugya was consequently named as the Women Super League MVP (Most Valuable Player) after scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.

Goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro was also named as the Best Goalkeeper and walked away with the Golden Glove after keeping 15 clean sheets in the 20 games she played.

Resty Kobusobozi of Lady Doves emerged as the top scorer with 18 goals while her club won the Fair Play Award.

Kampala Queens will represent Uganda at the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers of the CAF Women’s Champions League later this year.
