KCCA FC board is split over the appointment of Brian Ssenyondo and Jackson Magera as their co-coaches on permanent.

On Friday, KCCA FC named Ssenyondo and Magera as co-coaches for the next two years.

Swift Sports Uganda understands that while some board members are excited about the appointments, others view it as an underwhelming.

It has been established that some members on the board wanted current Uganda Cranes assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa who is out of contract in November this year to take over reins instead of having the pair of Ssenyondo and Magera.

Despite some feeling that Ssimbwa should have been handed the job, the KCCA FC hierarchy decided to go the Vipers way of appointing co-coaches. Last season, co-coaches John Ayala Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza led Vipers to a Cup double.

KCCA FC were also interested in appointing former SC Villa tactician Dusan Stojanovic but couldn’t reach an agreement over his salary and opted for a cheaper option.

Ssenyondo is a former Synergy FC, Mbarara City FC and Kitara FC head coach and is the current U-17 national team coach.

Magera has been in the KCCA FC coaching set up serving as assistant coach, U-17 coach and interim head coach. He also managed at Uganda Premier league record champions SC Villa as assistant coach in 2021/22 and head coach during the 2022/23 campaign.

KCCA FC have gone six seasons without silverware and finished 19 points below league champions Vipers SC as well as losing the Uganda Cup final to the Kitende outfit last term. Can Ssenyondo and Magera end KCCA FC’s six year trophy drought?
