The newly renovated Nakivubo Stadium hosted its maiden Masaza Cup game on Saturday, 28th June since it’s refurbishment by businessman Hajji Hamis Kiggundu.

The Masengere group contest between Kyaddondo and Bulemeezi FC became the first game to be hosted at the venue in the prestigious Buganda Kingdom organized championship since the final of the 2013 edition.

Kyaddondo prevailed to a sole goal Sudais Ssentamu late strike to overcome three time competition winners Bulemeezi FC.

The Venue had last staged a Masaza Cup game in 2013 when Mawokota edged Ssingo 1-0, thanks to a Farouk Miya late free kick by then.

Since its renovation, the contest between two former Masaza Cup champions attracted arguably the biggest attendance of any game hosted at the stadium.

Uganda Premier league sides Express FC and URA FC hosted their matches at the venue last term but the stadium was always full of empty seats. This was not the case in the game between Kyaddondo and Bulemeezi.

Kyaddondo and Bulemeezi may not be the most supported teams in the prestigious competition but at least they did have the numbers in just their first group game of the 2025 edition of the Masaza Cup.

Meanwhile, Buluuli humbled Ssese 2-0 while Kabula played out to a goalless stalemate with two time champions Ssingo.
