The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly awards have awarded the winners for the month of June.
The winners from Basketball, Athletics, Netball were rewarded at the ceremony held on Tuesday at Lazo Restaurant in Kampala.
In Netball, Linda Muzigo currently regarded as the best defender in the country was named best of June. Her performance at the back guided her UCU side to a 48-37 win over UPDF and was also instrumental in UCU’s emphatic 60-42 triumph over Busia.

Despite losing their blockbuster tie 37-33 to record champions NIC, astonishing performances at the back in this encounter were remarkable. UCU Currently top the table with 16 points.
She beat Shafi Nalwanja of KCCA to the monthly gong.
Frank Nyembo Fataki’s heroics for his SOMMET Basketball Club saw them humble KIU Titans 92-73, and Kampala Rockets 85-81 before putting to the sword, Dictators City Oilers 90-87 and JKL Dolphins Men 68- 64.
Their only loss in June was a 55-52 loss against KCCA panthers.
In the five games SOMMET BC played, Fataki averaged 21 points with a combined 57 rebounds and 26 turnovers.They are currently 6th on the FUBA logo with 27 points in 17 games.
He beat Hope Akello (JKL) and Peter Akok (KIU Titans) to the Basketball accolade.
Middle long-distance runner Peruth Chemutai was named as Athlete of the month following her silver medal at the Paris Diamond League in her renown 3,000m steeplechase race clocking a seasonal best 8:54.41.

She narrowly failed to cruise to gold only by a whisker with her 2024 Paris Olympic games rival, Kenya’s Faith Cherotich clinching gold after finishing at 8:53.37. Chemutai is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games gold medalist and silver medalist at the Paris games.
She beat Sarah Chelangat and Halimah Nakaayi to the accolade.
Meanwhile Professional Golfer Deo Akope was named as the Life Time Achievement Award winner for June 2025.

The five-time Uganda Golf Open winner, national team player, captain, and later a coach received the award from Nakawa East Member of Parliament Ronald Balimwezo.
