The organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards have named six winners for the month of August, 2023.
The six winners came from Athletics, football, Netball, Ludo, Boxing and Motorsport.
Winners were rewarded at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo on Tuesday morning.
In Netball, She Cranes’ Shadia Nassanga was named the best of August following her performances at the 2023 World Cup that was held in South Africa.
Nassanga beat Margaret Baagala and Mary Nuba who were also outstanding for the She Cranes to the accolade.
Victor Kiplangat the winner of the World Athletics Championship Marathon title in Budapest was named the best of August in Athletics.
He became the first Ugandan to clinch the title since Stephen Kiprotich in Moscow ten years ago.
Kiplangat who was represented by Dominic Outchet, the President of the Uganda Athletics Federation beat three time 10000m World Champion Joshua Cheptegei and Stephen Kissa to the August gong.
Wasswa Ssali smiled to the Boxing accolade following his silver medal at the 2023 Africa Boxing Championship in Cameroon.
Wasswa won three fights on his way to the final at championship that was held in Cameroon. He beat Erina Namutebi also a silver medalist at the Championship and Ukasha Matovu who scooped bronze to the accolade.
In Ludo, Brian Balinya, winner of the 2023 Uganda Ludo Individual championship was named best of August
Balinya edged Muhammed Kayaaya and Rose Nsereko to the accolade.
The rally crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba clinched the Motorsport accolade.
The crew fresh recently won the Masaka rally won the August accolade ahead of Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musaazi as well as Jas Mangat and Kamya.
Kyaggwe Ssaza team striker Yusuf Mukwana walked away with the football gong.
Mukwana scored five goals for Kyaggwe in August in the Buganda Masaza Cup. He beat Kampala Queens’ striker Fazila Ikwaput and Shakib Mayanja to the award.
