Belgian tactician Ivan Jacky Minnaert has become the ninth foreign coach to manage at seven time Uganda Premier league champions Vipers SC.
Minnaert will have the onus of becoming the third foreign coach to guide the Venoms to silverware.
Out of the eight previous foreign coaches at Vipers SC, only Portuguese coach Miguel Da Costa and Brazilian tactician Robertinho Oliveira have won silverware at the club.
Da Costa won the 2017/18 league title while Robertinho led Vipers to the 2021/22 league title as well as the Stanbic Uganda Cup triumph in 2021.
Robertinho is also the only Vipers SC coach to lead the side to the CAF Champions league group stages.
The other foreign coaches at Vipers are Nigerian Ambrose Duru Chukuma, Kenyan Michael Nam Ouma, Mexican Javier Martinez Espinosa, Brazilian Leonard Martins Neiva,Brazilian-Spaniard Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pelliste and Serbian Nikola Kavazovic have all failed to deliver glory at Kitende.
Vipers SC league winning coaches are Edward Golola (2), Miguel Da Costa (1), Robertinho Oliveira (1), Fred Kajoba (RIP) (1), Alex Isabirye Isabirye (1) and Co-coaches John Ayala Luyinda and Fred Muhumuza.
Since Vipers claimed their first league title in the 2009/10 as Bunamwaya, no side has won more than the seven they have managed in the period.
In that period, KCCA have won 5, Express FC 2, SC Villa and URA winning it one each. The onus will be Belgian tactician Minnaert to add another title to Vipers increasing trophy cabinet.
