Uganda Cranes defender Bevis Mugabi has joined English side Carlisle United from Anorthosis Famagusta.
The Uganda Cranes international has joined the side on a two year employment contract.
His new club is managed by Manchester United legend Mark Hughes and features in England’s fifth tier or National League.
“Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Bevis Mugabi on a two-year deal,” read a statement on the club website.
“Mugabi, 30, arrives after a stint in Cyprus with Anorthosis, where he played 17 times and scored two goals.”
Mugabi can be deployed as a central defender as well as right back. He managed 26 caps on the senior national team the Uganda Cranes with one goal.
Mugabi was born in England and spent most of his youth career with Fulham and Southampton, before moving to Yeovil Town in the summer of 2016 where he played over 102 times scoring 5 goals.
He then joined Scottish Premier League side Motherwell in 2019 where he spent five years and made 125 appearances scoring seven goals in his time in Scotland.
Mugabi represented Uganda at the 2019 Afcon finals in Egypt and also played a key role as the Cranes made a return to the continental showpiece due in December this year.
