SC Villa are undertaking steps to restore the defunct Jogoo Young academy as they seek to wrest back ascendancy over the likes of Vipers and KCCA FC in the fight to have the best young talents in the country.
Club President Hajji Omar Mandela is enthusiastic about Villa’s Academy and feels the attention should been given to the youth system.
As they build for the future, Uganda’s most successful club in the history of Ugandan football will conduct U-17 trials starting next week at East High school Ntinda.
The residential U-17 trials will be conducted by Allan Nsubuga starting on Monday, 29th May, 2023.
According to sources, Mandela wants the club to have a productive academy just like in the past when they had the likes of Yasin Mugabi, Yusuf Juuko, Godfrey Walusimbi, Anthony Ndolo, Oscar Agaba, Mike Azira, Chrizestom Ntambi, Augustine Nsumba and Steven Bengo.
In fact, the above mentioned graduates from the defunct Jogoo Young came close to clinching the 2007/8 league title only to be beaten to the championship by KCCA FC.
