betPawa Backs the Gazelles’ Bold Surge for Gold at FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025

David GOMBE

In the sun-soaked arenas of Côte d’Ivoire, where the pulse of African basketball beats loudest, the Uganda Gazelles are ready to leap into history at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025. From July 25 to August 3, 2025, this fearless squad, backed by the electrifying support of Africa’s biggest gaming brand betPawa, is set to chase gold with a swagger that’s uniquely Ugandan.

With their first showdown against Guinea on Sunday, July 27, followed by a titanic clash with Senegal on Monday, July 28, the Gazelles are igniting a revolution on the court.

A Sponsorship That Sparks Greatness

Since March 20, 2024, betPawa has been the wind beneath the Gazelles’ wings, injecting a game-changing UGX 150,000 win bonus per match into the team’s campaign. A bump that has propelled the Gazelles to new heights. From the moment betPawa joined the fray, the team has been a juggernaut. This partnership has transformed the Gazelles into a force that is redefining what is possible for women’s basketball in Africa.

From Cairo to Côte d’Ivoire: A Trail of Triumph

The Gazelles’ journey to AfroBasket 2025 reads like a thriller scripted by the gods of basketball. Their defining moment came on February 8, 2025, in Cairo, where they stormed through the Zone 5 Qualifiers, toppling Egypt 74-63 to claim the championship crown. A statement victory to show that Ugandan women are here to dominate.

Led by the indomitable Jane Asinde, a forward whose stat line (19 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists against Egypt) could make poets weep, the Gazelles averaged jaw-dropping 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game in the qualifiers.

Building on their seventh-place finish at the 2023 AfroBasket, the Gazelles have turned consistency into an art form.

Their recent 69-62 friendly win over Cameroon on July 15, 2025, in Cairo was a masterclass in grit and guile, a preview of the fireworks awaiting in Côte d’Ivoire and with betPawa’s backing, they are on the edge of glory.

betPawa and the Gazelles:

A Partnership Forged in Fire betPawa’s UGX 150,000 win bonus per match is a catalyst for the team’s improved performance. It fuels the belief that the Gazelles can outshine Africa’s best. The betPawa logo on their jerseys is a badge of honor, a symbol of a shared vision to elevate Ugandan sport to stratospheric heights.

As the Gazelles stride into Côte d’Ivoire, they carry the hopes of a nation and the pride of a sponsor that’s all in. From the bustling streets of Kampala to the vibrant courts of Abidjan, the chant is the same: “Go Gazelles!”

This is more than a tournament, it’s a saga of courage, unity, and the relentless pursuit of glory. With betPawa in their corner and fire in their hearts, the Uganda Gazelles are ready to claim their place in history.
