Uganda Cranes fans reacted with a mix of anger and resignation to lack of food and drinks inside Mandela National stadium during Match-day one of group C of the delayed African Nations Championships (CHAN).

Majority of the fans who watched both Guinea’s win over Niger and Algeria’s thrashing of Uganda were disappointed to find no service providers for food and drinks at Namboole on Monday.

The Uganda Local Organizing Committee through its spokesperson Mark Namanya has on Tuesday, assured fans that by match-day two the situation will be resolved and fans will have access to food and drinks.

“As the Local Organizing Committee we regret what happened on Monday. We promise that after engaging with CAF officials this won’t happen on Friday when the games resumes at Namboole. Fans will have access to food and drinks from the service providers who will be at the venue.”

“Drinks and food will be at affordable prices because this tournament is not about making money.” So, I call upon the fans to buy tickets, come and support the team but we apologize for all that happened on the opening day.” Said Namanya

The ongoing seventh edition of the CHAN tournament is the first to be held in three countries and also acts as a rehearsal for AFCON 2027.
