Uganda Cranes will be without midfielder Joel Sserunjogi for their final group C contest against South Africa on Monday 18th August.
The midfielder has been outstanding in the ongoing tournament and will be suspended for the crucial game against Bafana Bafana.
Sserunjogi was booked in Uganda’s 3-0 defeat over Algeria and was again shown yellow in the Cranes 2-0 win over Niger.
Against Niger, Sserunjogi and Allan Okello inspired Uganda to 2-0 victory on Monday.
According to the CAF competition rules, a player who gets two bookings gets a one match suspension.
Meanwhile, there was also an injury scare for the Cranes when Enock Ssebagala who has also been impressed in the tournament limped off in the second half of Uganda’s victory over Niger and was replaced by Elvis Ngonde.
Uganda needs to beat South Africa in the final group game to secure a place in the knockout phase for the first time in history.
