Guinea bow out of CHAN 2024 after stalemate with Algeria

Guinea have been eliminated from the CHAN 2024 following their 1-1 draw with Algeria in a Group C encounter on Friday at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.

Soufiane Bayazid late strike cancelled out Ismael Camera’s fine strike midway through the second half.

Guinea needed a win to keep their slim chances of a place in the quarterfinals alive.

After a cagey first half, Camara broke the deadlock with a sensational strike in the 62nd minute.

With two minutes to regulation time, Bayazid levelled matters for the Algerians to preserve their unbeaten record.

Guinea bow out after managing four points from their four matches in Group C.

Algeria move to five points and remain in contention for a place in the quarterfinals of the rearranged CHAN tournament in East Africa.

Group leaders Uganda have six points, Algeria on five and South Africa who are playing Niger are on four points.
