Uganda Cranes defender Hillary Mukundane will miss Uganda Cranes 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarterfinal contest on Saturday.

Uganda Cranes defied the odds to reach the last eight of the competition having failed in six previous CHAN final tournaments.

The 3-3 dramatic stalemate with South Africa under the lights of Mandela National Stadium on Monday secured a place for the Cranes in the quarterfinals.

Morley Byekwaso’s side will miss the services of Mukundane who got booked in the second period of the dramatic night.

This is Mukundane’s second yellow card at the ongoing CHAN tournament and as per the rules it automatically rules him out of the quarterfinal encounter on Saturday.

Mukundane was unused substitute in Uganda’s 3-0 defeat to Algeria with Arnold Odong partnering with Rogers Torach but the Vipers defender has featured in wins against Guinea, Niger and a stalemate with South Africa.

The good news midfielder Joel Sserunjogi will be returning after serving his one match suspension.

Uganda Cranes will face the runners-up in Group D that is either reigning CHAN champions Senegal or Congo in the last eight at Mandela National Stadium.
