Uganda Cranes have learnt their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarterfinal opponents after the climax of the group stage on Tuesday.
The Cranes who scripted history on Monday to reach the last eight of the competition will host Senegal who finished as runners-up in Group D.
On the final day of the Group stage, Senegal who finished with a man less drew goalless with Sudan at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Senegal’s Mbaye Yaya Ly was sent off in the final minutes of the game.
Both Senegal and Sudan finished with five points but the Sudanese topped the group with a better goal difference.
Sudan will take on Algeria who finished as runners up to Uganda in Group C.
Meanwhile, Nigeria ended Congo’s journey of the tournament co-hosted in East Africa with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from Anas Yusuf and Alimi Sikiru. Both Nigeria and Congo bow out of the competition.
In the other Quarterfinals, debutants Kenya will remain in Nairobi for their quarter-final clash with Madagascar on Friday evening while fellow co-hosts Tanzania will take on Morocco on the same day.
