Anitah Namata has agreed terms to join Kenya Women’s Premier League side Vihiga Queens as a free agent from Kampala Queens.
Namata joined Kampala Queens in January 2024 and became a mainstay in the team’s selection last season under Ethiopian coach Asefa Hailegebral.
Kampala Queens offered Namata a new contract but she opted for a new challenge elsewhere and her former side Vihiga Queens is her ultimate destination.
The offensive midfielder played for Vihiga Queens between 2022-24 and notably guided the team to a league title in 2023 after scoring 10 goals and seven assists.
She is expected to play a key part in the club’s rebuilding process ahead of the new 2025/26 season that will see them strive to dethrone back-to-back champions Kenya Police Bullets.
She becomes the latest player to depart from Kampala Queens after Daisy Nakaziro, Zainah Nandede, Shamirah Nalugya and Asia Nakibuuka.
Namata has previously played for Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs in multiple spells but also She Corporate FC.
