Uganda Cranes head coach Joseph Paul Put has named 11 players from the squad that recently featured at the CHAN 2024 in the squad to face Mozambique and Somalia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Uganda Cranes will host Mozambique on Friday, 5th September before taking on Somalia on Monday, 8th of the same month at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
Among the eleven CHAN team players summoned is Reagan Mpande who scored Uganda’s first goal at the ongoing tournament against Guinea and Herbert Achayi. Both players are earning their first senior national team call ups.
Allan Okello, Uganda’s top scorer at the CHAN 2024 tournament with three goals is also among those summoned.
The other players summoned from the CHAN 2024 are Joel Mutakubwa, Gavin Kizito Mugweri, Hillary Mukundane, Joel Sserunjogi, Rogers Torach, Abdul Karim Watambala, Patrick Jonah Kakande and Jude Ssemugabi.
Steven Mukwala who plays for Tanzania giants Simba, Uganda Cranes skipper Khalid Aucho miss out on the summoned team.
Denis Onyango has returned to the team four years after retirement and Salim Jamal Omar Magoola bounces back for the first time since 2023.
