Sudanese giants El Merrikh SC are to step up attempts to sign Allan Okello from Vipers SC, as they seek to boost their attacking options.
This website has established that the Sudanese side has already approached Vipers over Okello, who is understood to have agreed personal terms despite interest from Algerian side USM Alger, Pyramids FC of Egypt, Gor Mahia of Kenya and Tanzania’s Simba SC.
The development comes after Okello’s impressive performance at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

He scored three of the eight goals that Uganda managed at the delayed CHAN 2024 in East Africa.
He can play in several attacking roles, joined Vipers in August 2023 as a free agent following his departure at Algerian side AC Paradou.
Okello is under contract at Vipers SC until 2026 and the club has the option of an additional year.
Swift Sports understands that the Venoms don’t want to sell their starman this window but will be tempted in case a juicy offer is tabled.
He led Vipers to the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup double last season, finishing as top scorer in the league with 19 goals.
Salim Jamal Magoola, Mike Mutyaba and Hamis ‘Diego’ Kizza are some of the other Ugandan players who have had stints at Al Hilal, Al Merrikh and El Hilal Obeid respectively.
